⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (I Would Give It Six Stars If The Laws Of Physics Allowed It)
Let me begin by saying that I have been playing fantasy football since before some of you were born. I have used spreadsheets. I have used notebooks. I have used the back of a Chipotle receipt. I have, in one particularly dark season, used a whiteboard in my garage that my wife still refers to as "the incident." I say all of this so you understand that when I tell you this is the single greatest piece of software ever conceived by the human mind, I am not speaking from a place of naivety. I am speaking from a place of deep, hard-won, decades-long suffering that this extension has finally, mercifully, ended.
The Installation
I want to talk about the installation process, because I think it deserves its own paragraph. Possibly its own book. I clicked "Add to Chrome." That's it. That's the whole story. I clicked one button and the extension installed faster than I could finish the thought "I wonder if this will install." I actually sat back in my chair. I looked at the ceiling. I thought about my father, who never lived to see a browser extension install this quickly, and I wept. Not a lot. But enough.
Connecting My ESPN League
Here is where things went from "impressive" to "I need to sit down and reevaluate everything I thought I knew about technology." I logged into ESPN. The extension recognized my league. Not "eventually." Not "after I refreshed three times and cleared my cookies and whispered a prayer." Immediately. It saw my league the way a mother sees her child across a crowded playground. It knew my team name (Kittle Me Elmo, thank you). It knew my roster. It knew that I had, in a moment of weakness in Round 4, drafted a kicker, and it did not judge me. It simply pulled the data and moved on, like a true professional.
I have connected things before. I have connected printers. I have connected Bluetooth speakers that required me to hold a button for exactly seven seconds while standing on one leg. I have connected my in-laws to the Wi-Fi so many times that I now have the password tattooed on my forearm. None of those experiences prepared me for how seamlessly this extension connected to my league. It was like watching two long-lost lovers reunite in an airport. I half expected music to swell.
The Reports
Oh, the reports.
I don't know how to describe the reports to someone who hasn't seen them. It's like trying to describe color to a fish, or describing a good night's sleep to a parent of a newborn. The reports are clear. The reports are beautiful. The reports contain information that I did not know I needed but now cannot imagine living without. I opened my first weekly report and I genuinely made a noise that caused my dog to leave the room.
Do you know how long I used to spend on Tuesday mornings manually tabulating my league's results, cross-referencing waiver claims, and trying to figure out who in my league was quietly tanking? Hours. HOURS. I would come into work bleary-eyed and my coworkers would ask if everything was okay at home, and I would say "yes" but what I meant was "no, because Derek has been hoarding running backs and I have no way to prove it." Now? The report is waiting for me. It is already generated. It is sitting there like a warm loaf of bread on a windowsill. Derek's running back hoarding is laid bare for all to see. Derek has been exposed. Derek has apologized to the group chat. Derek has never been the same, and honestly, neither have I.
Final Thoughts
I've written a lot of words here, and I recognize that some people will read this and think I'm exaggerating. I'm not. If anything, I've held back.
