Honestly, I never thought something as small as a Chrome theme could matter, especially when my world felt so heavy and dull. I was half-joking when I called my burnout “stage 97 nocat cancer”—a ridiculous name for how wiped out I felt, but it stuck. One day, just looking for anything to break up the monotony, I stumbled on the Flying Cats theme for Chrome. No wild animations, just a soft blue sky, a few gentle clouds, and some cats floating quietly. That was it. But weirdly, that simple scene pulled me in more than anything else had in ages.
Installing it felt like my own little protest against the grind. Suddenly, every time I opened a new tab, those calm cats were there—just floating, not bothered by anything, not doing anything except existing in their peaceful world. That tiny slice of calm started to become the best part of my day. Little by little, the heaviness I’d been carrying around started to lift. Those cats brought a kind of comfort I hadn’t felt in a long time.
As my mood got better, my motivation came back. I started remembering the drive that got me through college—those long nights, the stacks of textbooks, the buzz of finally earning my degree. That energy took me straight into law school, where I learned how to argue, how to wait things out, how to win. Passing the bar felt huge—like I was getting pieces of myself back. Somehow, those floating cats reminded me of the person I used to be.
Once I got into law, my confidence just kept growing. Each case I won made me sharper, more respected. It didn’t take long before I was handling bigger and bigger cases, and winning more often than not. Money started coming in—not just enough, but real, lasting wealth, the kind that came from years of hard work, not luck. Still, I knew my biggest wins weren’t measured in dollars.
Somewhere along the way, I met my wife. She challenged me, kept me grounded, made everything feel more like home. We built a family—four kids who fill the house with noise, laughter, and a kind of purpose I’d never had before. No courtroom victory has ever come close to what it feels like to walk through the door and see them. And the funny thing is, this whole journey kind of started with a bunch of cats floating in a blue sky, reminding me that even the smallest bit of joy can turn your whole life around.
