I want to start by saying I'm genuinely picky about extensions. I install things, test them for a few days, and uninstall about 90% of them because they either slow my browser down, break random websites, or just stop working after a few weeks. Quiet Web is the rare exception, and after using it daily for a while now, I feel like it deserves a proper, detailed review instead of just a quick star rating.
Speed and how it actually works
The first thing that stood out to me is the underlying approach. Because it's built on Manifest V3 network-level rules instead of just scanning and hiding elements after the page has already rendered, it intercepts ad and tracker requests before they ever load. That sounds like a small technical detail, but the difference is very noticeable in practice — pages load faster, there's no flash of a banner ad before it gets yanked out, and my browser just feels lighter overall. Tabs open quicker, scrolling feels smoother on ad-heavy news sites, and I've noticed my laptop fan spinning up way less often on pages that used to be packed with autoplay video ads and tracking scripts running in the background.
YouTube ads are actually gone
I watch a lot of YouTube, and this is honestly the feature that made me a believer. Pre-roll ads, mid-roll interruptions, the unskippable ones that used to make me groan out loud — all gone, with zero configuration needed. I didn't have to dig through settings or whitelist/blacklist anything, it just started working the second I installed the extension. I've recommended it to two friends purely on the strength of the YouTube ad blocking alone.
No more redirect chaos
Before installing this, I'd occasionally get bounced through two or three sketchy redirect pages just from misclicking somewhere on a site, sometimes landing on fake "you've won a prize" pages or shady download prompts. That has basically stopped completely. The redirect blocker catches this stuff before it ever gets a chance to load, and the pop-up blocking is aggressive in a good way — I haven't had a single unwanted pop-up window since installing it.
Getting past anti-adblock walls
This is the feature that most other blockers I've tried completely fail at. So many news and streaming sites have started throwing up "please disable your ad blocker to continue" walls, and it's incredibly frustrating to have to choose between whitelisting a site you don't trust or not reading the article at all. Quiet Web quietly slips past almost all of these without me lifting a finger. I haven't hit a single hard wall since I started using it, which given how common these have become lately, feels like a genuinely impressive piece of engineering.
Thoughtful small details
Beyond the core blocking, there are little touches that show real care went into this. The one-click per-site pause button in the toolbar is great for the rare occasion a page needs ads temporarily to function properly — no need to fully disable the whole extension, just pause it for that one tab. The live stats display (redirects blocked, YouTube ads removed, total ads filtered) is a small thing, but it's satisfying to glance at and see the running total climb, and it reassures you that it's actually doing work in the background rather than just sitting there.
Overall
It's fast, it's lightweight, it respects your privacy, it doesn't nag you with upsells or "upgrade to pro" popups like some other ad blockers do, and it just quietly does its job extremely well. This is now one of the very first extensions I install on any new browser setup. If you're deciding between the dozen or so ad blockers out there, save yourself the trial-and-error I went through and just start with this one. Five stars, no hesitation, fully deserved.

Great ad blocker! It blocks annoying ads, speeds up browsing, and is very easy to use. I've had a smooth experience with it and would definitely recommend it.
