How Ext Watch reads the market.

Start with observations

Ext Watch collects public extension listing facts through its own crawler. Every figure has an observation date. Store user counts are rounded estimates, not active-user or revenue measurements. Our own history began on 2 October 2026.

A signal is a question

A low rating or a long interval between updates can suggest a workflow to investigate. It cannot establish that a product is broken, abandoned, profitable, or replaceable. The research desk shows candidates and counter-evidence together.

Reviewed openings

Public openings require editorial review of the evidence and competing alternatives. Automated eligibility or a high score alone is not approval. Scores are experimental prioritisation aids, not a prediction of commercial success.

Trends need history

Changes are measured between our observations. We favour rating-count changes over rounded user counts. A single snapshot is not a trend. A first-seen publisher is not proof of an ownership transfer.

Check the competing explanation

Stable software may need few updates. Reviews may describe a resolved issue. A product can be a companion to a larger service, or mandatory in a workplace. Before building, try the workflow, read recent feedback, compare alternatives and speak with potential buyers.

Limitations

Coverage is incomplete and crawl times vary. Listing data may change after our observation. We do not have access to developers’ private revenue, retention, installs or support records. Ext Watch is independent of Google.
